This past weekend was a long weekend called Victoria Day weekend in Canada, and this coming weekend is Memorial Day weekend in the States. Over the long weekends Torontonian’s head up north to their cottages to escape the hustle of the city and relax. I am a city girl, but I also enjoy being outdoors (sans bugs) and I am borderline a tomboy at heart. Picture me outdoors roughing it in the wilderness… seems a little strange, but the more activities, the happier I am.
When staying at a lake house or cottage you should wear something comfortable yet stylish. Patterns with stripes or even anchors like the ones on my tailored shirt above evoke a nautical and somewhat preppy feel which I think is very fitting for cottage attire. Brands like Roots or J.Crew are also great stores to shop at when searching for cottage outfits. Some of my favourite cottage pieces include a fun, flirty sundress like this one and a cute pair of t-strap jelly sandals like these.
I hope you all had a great long weekend and for any American readers a great upcoming Memorial Day weekend. My dad’s coming to visit me from California so it should be a fun-filled weekend for me.
