With a third wave on the horizon, 2021 is nothing short of a weird Deja-vu of life in 2020. Since we sort of know what to expect in the coming months, we wanted to get a jump start on pre-planning moments that bring us joy. We’re finding that it’s the little things in life that makes us happy lately like walks outside, sunshine, and connection with the people we love most. Since warmer days are on the horizon, socially distanced picnics in the park are on our most coveted list. So, prepare to become one with nature, and make your next picnic memorable with this week’s Friday favorites picnic essentials.
1.Water Proof Picnic Blanket: Let’s begin with the basics shall we? Picnic basics 101- you should start by laying out a waterproof blanket before setting up food or drinks. This plaid waterproof blanket from Shein is not only adorable, but it’s also portable, ultra light and machine washable so no need to worry about an occasional vino spill.
2. Collapsible Picnic Basket: If there’s one mandatory item needed for a proper picnic it’s a picnic basket. This insulated version keeps food and drinks at room temperature and is leak proof. The basket includes four plates, four glasses, flatware and napkins, and folds completely flat for easy storage. It’s a modern take on wicker baskets of the past.
3.Resetting Mineral Powder Sunscreen: Let’s face it having an oily t-zone, or sun damage on our skin is not cool. Protecting your skin from sun exposure is so important. Picnics require a lot of UV Ray exposure so be prepared to combat harmful rays with Supergoop’s Re-Setting Mineral Powder. You brush it on to reduce shine and add SPF throughout the day.
4.Collapsible Cups: If you thought collapsible items were only for dogs, think again. These collapsible cups are just what we need to quench our thirst after a long day of lounging around and drinking Rose on our fabulous picnic blankets. Once your cup is empty, you can collapse it, and pack it away in your picnic basket.
5. Cooler Backpack: Corkcicle’s Picnic Cooler Backpack is the answer to all of our non-chilled Rose bottle woes. The backpack holds twelve cans or eight cans and two bottles of wine. This sustainable bag is sure to keep all of your refreshing spring cocktails cold.
6. Portable Picnic Table: We’ve seen cute picnic companies popping up on the gram over the past year. These companies create memorable picnic experiences that are aesthetic goals. If you want to create your own Instagram worthy picnic scene start with a good table base like this portable picnic table made out of reclaimed wood from Anthropologie.
7. Reusable Sandwich bag: We are the queens of snacking, and can’t imagine having a picnic without bringing a ton of snacks. This reusable silicone bag from Stasher is a great alternative to disposable plastic sandwich bags. BONUS: You can use a dry-erase marker to label food items and note any ingredients that people may be allergic to.
Will you plan a picnic this Spring?
