The Top Hair Trends Of 2021

By Posted on 2 Comments Location: 3 min read

Didn’t get a chance to go to a salon last year? Don’t worry we were in the same boat. After the pandemic basically stripped us from our accessibility to our favourite hair stylists we were forced to take matters into our own hands. Some of us reached for the scissors while others attempted at-home dye jobs, something we now deem a huge no-no! If you want to DIY something turn towards your t-shirt collection instead.

With 2021 giving us all major hope and glimpses into what pre-covid life was like some salons around the world are open again. Yes we get it, we would be running to sit in our stylists chair too or booking an appointment asap to save the damage that was done to our hair last year. But now that salon doors have been opened again, what hair trends are you feeling brave enough to try? Keep scrolling to uncover four of the biggest hair trends of 2021.

  1. Curtain Bangs: The revival of ‘70s bangs actually makes our hearts swoon. This wispy face-framing cut was once rocked by iconic queens of the past like Brigette Bardot and Farrah Fawcett. Since the center part was a huge topic of debate last year, this hair cut is sure to help squash the beef between Gen Z’s and Millennial’s. The hair is usually parted down the middle, score, and the layers are swept to the side like a curtain. Curtain bangs are more manageable than most bangs requiring little to no trims in between salon visits.

2. Natural Textures: If there’s one thing 2020 taught us it’s to embrace who we are at our most natural states- hair included. Women who were once straightening their curly locks are turning to curl-holding products and diffusers instead. If your natural curls appear limp and lifeless it could be time for a maintenance chop to keep your curls healthy and bouncy. Before you get a cut consider your curl pattern, face shape and how much maintenance you plan to do for your hair afterwards.

3. Chunky Highlights: Move over balayage the reassurance of ’90s hair is back with chunky highlights topping the list of hair trends this year. If you want to achieve a more natural blended look then try blending highlights throughout the hair and choosing a lighter color to frame the face that gradually blends to a slightly darker color as the highlights move away from the face.

4. Shag: Though there are many versions of a shag haircut, one of our personal favorites being the long shag, this hair trend is for the fierce femme fatales that want a low maintenance but equally effortlessly cool haircut. We love that the shag cut is flirty and ultra-feminine. The benefits of this hair style is that it adds volume, texture, and sexy movement to the hair.
