Model Approved Beauty Tips and Tricks

We love learning beauty tips and tricks from industry insiders like Samantha Leung. The Toronto based model shared her skincare regimen’s with us and a few beauty hacks she swears by. If we can achieve glowing skin like Samantha’s we are all ears. Learn more about some of the tips she’s learned from years of being on set to what beauty products she’s currently lusting over.

Morning Routine

I always wash my face with cold water, and I’ve been using the Andalou Rosewater Foaming Cleanser for years. Sometimes when my face is puffy, I will literally put ice cubes on my face. Another little tool I will use is applying a jade roller to the face in the morning – this helps with blood flow, reduces puffiness and stimulates lymphatic drainage.

Nighttime Routine

In the evenings I pack on the moisturizer- I recently introduced Darphin products into my nighttime routine and love them. I use the Smoothing Perfecting Serum and I’ve found it’s significantly helped even out my skintone, as well as the Niaouli oil.

Beauty tips and tricks she’s learned from being on set

Makeup can be expensive, a smart way to buy makeup is to spend your money on the high quality  products with pigmentation such as foundation, eyeshadow and lipstick but you can save on other makeup products such as mascara, you just have to find one with a good brush. And if you’re someone who likes to apply eyeshadow as your regular makeup routine, apply that first, prior to under eye concealer, otherwise you end up wiping off the concealer and wasting product.

For hair care, wash your hair the night before a day on set and don’t use conditioner if you don’t have to – this will help hold the style better. I also don’t style my hair with hot tools if I don’t have to – during quarantine I noticed my hair was so much healthier because I mostly left it natural.

Products she swears by

I love Nars concealer because it’s light but still gives a lot of coverage. And I love Stila’s liquid eye liner – perfect for a winged eye and literally stays on all day.

Industry hacks she utilizes at home to maintain the health of her skin

Stay hydrated and get your sleep! Every morning I drink a full glass of warm water with lemon squeezed into it. Also if I have a shoot, I don’t drink alcohol the night before. I also have a humidifier in my bedroom and I find this especially helps retain the moisture in my skin during the winter months.
