11 Badass Items you Need This Spring

Spring is in the air in Toronto, and Sunday’s sunshine was enough to entice some people in the city to get outdoors and enjoy the warm weather- Hooray for vitamin D! 🙂  If your spring wardrobe needs an update then you’ve come to the right place. 3. BOYFRIEND SHORTS- Expect to see longer hemlines with a looser fit for denim shorts this season. I literally live in shorts in the summer so I can’t wait to stock up with a few new pairs for the season.  I currently have my eye on these Rag & Bone ones.

4. STATEMENT EARRINGS- Statement earrings with embellishments and logos flooded the S/S 17 runways so get prepared to see a shift in jewelry trends this season. Delicate pieces saturated the market last year, and don’t get me wrong I love simple pieces of jewelry; however, get ready for bold jewelry to make a huge comeback (HELLO 80’s).

5. STRAW BAGS-  Carrying a straw tote as a beach bag sounds pretty standard; however, this season designers are incorporating straw on other handbag styles like clutches, and cross body bags and fashionistas everywhere are obsessed.

6. BANDANA CHOKERS- The choker trend shows no sign of slowing down this season, and instead keeps evolving to include styles like this Bandana version. The beauty about chokers is that they are so versatile and can be worn with almost anything. I prefer to style these neck hugging pieces with a casual street-style look though. If you’re interested in expanding your arsenal of chokers then consider trying a bandana choker.

7. STRAW HATS- I adore straw hats especially in the summertime to help protect my face from UV rays. Last year we saw the emergence of oversized sun hats with cute slogans plastered around the rim, and these trendy hats are still popular this season. Whether you’re traveling to a beach destination or going to lunch with friends, consider giving one of these beauty’s a try.

8. METALLICS- Be bold and make a statement with metallics this spring. Yes metallics seem intimidating to style at times, but my advice is to wear one metallic statement piece at a time and keep the rest of the outfit simple- think jeans and a tee paired with cute silver loafers.

BRONZING PRODUCTS- Bronze and dewy skin flooded the S/S 17 catwalks as models strutted down the runway with what appeared to be sun kissed checks and luminous cheekbones.  If you’re apprehensive about taking the plunge and trying self-tanners but still want to achieve a similar bronzed look like the ones seen on the runway, then you should give one of these bronzing products a try.

10. TINTED SUNGLASSES- It’s time to put your mirrored lens sunglasses to rest and embrace one of spring’s hottest trends for sunglasses- the revived tinted lens trend. If you want to embrace the cool supermodel off-duty look, then give these bold shades a try.
