Missguided Midi Dress

Dress: Missguided, SOLD OUT (similar style here) | Shoes: Giambattista Valli, (similar style here) | Jacket: Blank NYC | Earrings: Henri Bendel, old (similar style here) | Bag: Gucci, (similar style here) | Sunglasses: Ray ban

Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

There's no denying that summer is officially here thanks to the warm weather we've been experiencing here in Toronto. If you're contemplating what to wear on a warm summer night out, try a cute midi dress.

I bought  Missguided's jaw-dropping version in Los Angeles a while back and could not wait for the perfect summer day to wear it in Toronto. Though this dress typically works best as an evening look, don't be afraid to push the envelope and rock this style during the day. If you'd like a tiny bit more coverage, you can easily switch the bodysuit underneath for a bodycon slip dress. Flaunt your legs and shape this summer with this sheer midi dress and I guarantee all eyes will be on you when you walk into a room.

3 Pieces You Need to Get Summer Ready

Top: Boa Boutique | Jeans: Boa Boutique | Shoes: Ferragamo (ON SALE), YELLOW (similar style here) | Hat: Scala, (similar style here) | Purse: Celine, (similar style here) | Earrings: BP, (similar style here) | Bracelets: Bauble Bar, old (similar style here & here) | Sunglasses: Ray ban

I'm always on the hunt for cool trends or distinctive pieces that stand out in a sea of what seems to be the typical "basic" Toronto girl. Yawn... Even though being an "it" girl and rocking the latest and greatest outfits everyday sounds FAB, achieving cool girl status can often be unattainable and more importantly expensive. Let's face it, we all don't have $1500 to dish out on a stunning IRO jacket, SIGH, or a glam squad on speed dial. If you do, have you ever heard of the saying sharing is caring, and if you don't this is when your favorite summer basic comes in handy. You know that summer basic you've been wearing for the past two years that sometimes helps you pull a killer outfit together. This summer Pretty Little Hangers wants you to try mixing some of your favorite summer basics with these three pieces to help you get summer ready in no time.

#1 Off-the-Shoulder Top
If you haven't caught on to this hot summer trend, then it's about time you add an off-the-shoulder top to your wardrobe. This top is from Boa Boutique, one of my favourite boutiques in the city, and it is only $54.99. Shop this top online and other cute and inexpensive summer trends at www.shopboa.ca.

#2 White Jeans
White jeans the denim that you love to hate yet hate to love. If you're guilty of wearing this summer staple every season then you're doing something right. White jeans are so easy to style and once you figure out a brand that flatters your shape then you should stick to it. If you're blessed with curves, I would suggest tht you avoid form fitting white jeans or capri pants since they tend to make you appear shorter and sometimes even heavier.

#3 Boater Hat
It doesn't get more nautical than this! I am obsessed with hats, and boater hats are apart of my current hat rotation. Hats are the perfect accessory for shielding your face from the sunshine when temperatures heat up. So many of us forget to wear sunscreen regularly (I am definitely guilty of this- OOPS!), so wearing a hat is not a bad idea and can help prevent potential sun damage. You have to agree that wearing a hat is better than nothing :)

Consider these three essentials your guide to finding the perfect summer wardrobe essentials to get you summer ready. If you're missing any accessories shop my look below:

Summer Denim Shorts

Shirt: Free People SOLD OUT, (navy version here) | Shorts: Top Shop, ordering these
Jacket: Blank NYC | Shoes: Oscar De La Renta, (similar style here and here) |
Belt: Top Shop, old (similar style here) | Hat: Gucci, (similar style here) |
Sunglasses: Ray ban, (similar style here) | Bag: Gucci, (similar style here and here

Once the weather starts to heat up, you will likely catch me wearing a pair of denim shorts almost every day. Whether they're ripped, high waisted, or a classic cut off pair of shorts the options are endless, and I love them all! This past weekend we celebrated Victoria Day in Canada, and the temperature skyrocketed which meant I finally got a chance to wear my new white denim shorts from Top Shop. If you're can't decide which style of shorts should be your go-tos this summer then you should give these a try. These shorts will cover your cheeks, flatter your bum, and the price tag won't leave you in tears. These "moms" are without a doubt a win in my book.

I paired these shorts with this comfy striped Free People tunic and my absolute favorite embelished espadrilles. This top is the perfect transitional piece for summer, and I obviously cannot get enough of these espadrilles.

7 Best Toronto Coffee Shops

Like most people I require copious amounts of caffeine to get me through the day and over the years, i've tried some of the best americano's and latte's that Toronto has to offer. Below are my top picks for the best Toronto coffee shops to visit when you're in need of a quick caffeine fix in no particular order.

Shirt: Zara, under $50 | Jeans: Hudson, Flare version here (similar style here) |
Shoes: Oscar De La Renta (Similar style here & here) | Purse: Chloe, (similar style here) |
Earrings: Garbo (found these at a warehouse sale for $6), (similar style here) |
Necklace: Tiffany & Co | Lipstick: Velvet Teddy

#1 Bar Buca

Bar Buca is a quaint trattoria nestled in the heart of King West. Open weekdays from 7 am to 2 am and weekends from 8 am to 2 am Bar Buca offers both breakfast and dinner and is the perfect place to grab a morning coffee on the go. The baristas make a mean espresso which makes for an excellent Americano... probably one of my favorites in the city!

#2 xo Bisous

This French patisserie and cafe is one of the new kids in town opening their doors in January of this year. With a savory lunch menu, delicious pastries and great coffee Bisous is definitely a cool spot to check out.  Thanks Bisous for being gracious enough to let us shoot in your lovely space.

#3 Colette

This beautiful gem is located inside of the Thompson hotel, and can easily be mistaken for a picturesque photo of a Parisian cafe straight out of France. If you feel like you've seen Colette before, you are probably correct. This restaurant is one of the most Instagrammed places around the city with its elegant interiors and French inspired decor- C'est Magnifique!

#4 Dark Horse Espresso Bar

With a few locations around the city Dark Horse Coffee is easily one of the best coffee shops to grab a coffee and enjoy a quaint meeting with a colleague or catch up with friends. If you don't want a coffee they have plenty of fresh juices or delicious iced drinks.

#5 Dineen Coffee Co

Another favorite of mine is Dineen Coffee located on Younge Street. The decor is stunning, and the inviting ambience makes it a great place to relax, do some work or people watch.

#6 Nadege

If you're looking for one of the best macarons in the city then head over to Nadege on Queen St West. Give the Marie Antoinette tart a try and snap a photo of the latte art.

#7 Sud Forno

It doesn't get more Italian than Sud Forno. Here's my advice, grab a cappuccino, take a photo of the gorgeous mosaics (every blogger's dream) and make sure you try the Bombolini, me and my Nonna's favorite!

Did I miss one of your favorites? Please let me know in the comments below!

How to Style Cargo Pants

Shirt: Boa, (similar style here) | Pants: Boa, (similar style here) | Jacket: Danier, (similar style here) | Shoes: Jessica Simpson | Sunglasses: Ray- ban | Purse: Chanel, (similar style here) |
Belt: Louis Vuitton, (similar style here) | Ring: Baublebar | Hand Chain: Top Shop,  SOLD OUT (similar style here

You can't go wrong with a great pair of comfortable cargo's especially if they happen to fit and flatter your body well like this slim cut pair from Boa. These cargo's are lightweight, soft to the touch, have the perfect amount of stretch, and would be a great option to wear on a hot summer day.

Each season I find myself searching for the perfect pair of cargos that are feminine yet edgy enough to wear while running errands around the city or meeting friends on the weekends. Cargo's are easy to style and come in a variety of colors. I chose to pair these cargo's from Boa with a loose fitting top, leather jacket, strappy heels, and streamlined jewelry. If you don't have a great pair of cargo's in your wardrobe already head to Boa and try a pair of these comfortable gem's.
